Vineyard Notes
The natural acidity and intense colour of this grape variety is intensified by the vineyard location. Our Barbera was planted 12 years ago at the very top of Chalk Hill in shallow ironstone sand. This location allows for the production of small berries with great depth of flavour and velvety tannins.
Winemakers Notes
Barbera is an amazing variety that offers great natural fruit balance combined with soft textured tannins. Hence this wine is aged gently in 2nd and 3rd use French oak. The leisurely maturation softens and enhances the flavours of this wine.
Food Pairing
During the winter months a slow cooked osso buco would sit nicely alongside our rich Barbera. Duck and game dishes and cured meats are also well suited.
